Really Super Rare & Completely Original Hand Painted Pine Railway Sign. It is advertising tickets for the Southern Bell (which launched in 1908) London to Brighton train & this would have hung somewhere in Victoria Station.

Originally the price (it was luxury travel) was 12 shillings a ticket. 12 shillings was 2/3 of an average persons wage then so based on the advertised ticket price of 13 shillings on the painting this can be dated to c.1915 when 2nd and 3rd carriages were introduced along with a varied tariff.

The engine is painted LBSC, The London Brighton South Coast Railway which amalgamated and became Southern Railway in 1922.

Painted on three separate boards and in its original pine frame. Holes where it has been fixed to the wall.

All above information given by the previous owner...who cleaned the excess dirt off only to reveal the wonderful original paintwork below. There are bangs around the frame edge..a little section of paint missing centrally to the picture but overall a magnificent piece.

Perfect in a Brighton Public House, Restaurant..or prviate home etc.

It is large and so it can be wrapped & posted Parcel Force 48 for £28 but to save it being damaged much prefer collection or Courier UK £45.
