Antique Maple Butchers Block on its Original Pine Base - dating to the Early part of the 20th Century.

"Herbert & Sons West Smithfield London" Central Plaque to the front...although if this piece was in the centre of the room it looks great from the other side too. Photographs show all angles.

A very handy pot shelf underneath...perfect for pans or plates etc..as photographed.

Many butchers blocks if you can find them are sold just waxed over the top - this block's top has been sanded and taken back firstly to expose the wonderful maple blocks but any fat and residue that has been left on over the years has been removed & it is "clean" to use. If the top isnt sanded with a proper sander a thin layer of fat (even when washed) stays on and when the block is moved into a warm kitchen (by an Aga etc) will start smelling.  This wont.

Good sturdy piece with a great colour & no worm.
